Hi, I am Samuel, an iOS Developer with 6 years’ experience in app development.
My iOS Development path started at Masaryk University in Brno. Being a student at the Faculty of Informatics has significantly shaped my coding skills, and at the same time, app development has become my greatest hobby. I dedicated most of my free time to mobile app development, which was a field beyond my university curriculum, and developed two apps, Ruženec and Liturgia SK, with more than 7K downloads. During my studies, I also joined the company AHEAD iTec, which followed agile methodology. As iOS Developer, I was developing new features in apps for well-known banks, ČSOB and Česká Spořitelna, and implemented a new tool to unify coding conventions in a team. After finishing my university, I returned home to Slovakia, where I started to work full time for ISDD plus, a software house company. As the main iOS developer of the company, I took full responsibility for app development. I worked on apps for eminent companies: Allianz, Erste Group IT, PSS and Towercom. One of the apps was a pretty complex streaming service app called Otta. Then I discovered that there is a one-year program at the Apple Developer Academy in Naples for those who want to become first-class developers. The program is run by Apple and University Federico II. I applied and ended up in 4th place in the ranking, so I packed my things and moved to Italy. One year there was the best year of my life. I learned so much more than just coding. Ideation, investigation, solution approach, prototyping, teamwork, and presentation are just a few of them. In addition to the Standard class, I was also accepted to the extended curriculum called Enterprise class, where I deepened my business and backend knowledge and skills. This experience was hugely based on teamwork and Challenge Based Learning. I decided and successfully accepted to stay in such an amazing environment for another year as an intern. I was working as a backend developer with a team for an NGO called VSO. We developed a tool to help them to manage devices in schools in Africa, in Malawi, so that kids would have easier access through those devices to education. In the same year I also participated in the Swift Student Challenge, a competition Apple organizes every year, and with my project I became one of the winners. When I was finishing the internship at the Apple Developer Academy, I got in touch with Danish company Aviation eLearning. They needed to build an app ground up, and they wanted me to do it. The app was designed for pilots and cabin crew, to have access to their training courses. My job was to develop an app where they could download, update, and access such courses. After the app's release and when I was sure everything worked perfectly fine, I was enthusiastic about finding a new opportunity. And I was lucky to discover and join a leading App Makers in Scandinavia, called Shortcut. It's a time when I can put my hand on refreshingly great projects, and collaborate with the best app developers. Want to talk about crossing paths? Do not hesitate to reach me. |
